Pay plans, in plain English

The same pay number can mean very different paychecks. Here's what each pay plan means.

Salary
The same amount every paycheck, no matter how many ROs you write.
Hourly
Paid for every hour you work. Some shops add a bonus for hitting sales or CSI goals.
Commission
Paid a percentage of the parts and labor you sell. A slow month means a smaller check.
Base + commission
A smaller guaranteed base, plus a percentage of what you sell. Common at dealerships.
Draw
An advance on your commission each pay period. Ask whether it's recoverable: if it is, any shortfall comes out of future commission.

How this board works

Service advisor jobs only

Service advisors, service writers and service consultants at dealerships and high-volume repair shops. No techs, no sales jobs.

Links checked every week

We open the Apply links each week and take down jobs that have closed. Each job shows when it was posted, when the employer lists a date.

Save jobs on your phone

Questions

Do I need an account to apply?

No. There's nothing to sign up for here. The Apply button takes you to the job post, and you apply there.

Where does the Apply button take me?

The button says where it goes. "Apply on employer's site" opens the dealer or shop's own careers page. Otherwise it opens the job board where they posted it, like Indeed or CareerBuilder.

How do saved jobs work?

Tap the star on a job and it's saved on your phone. No account, and nobody else sees it. On iPhone, add this site to your Home Screen so your saved jobs stick around. See your saved jobs.

How is distance measured?

In a straight line from your city or ZIP code to the job's ZIP code, or the center of its city. Check the exact address on the job post.

Is the pay accurate?

Pay is what the employer posted. We don't guess it or change it. See something wrong? Report a listing.

I'm hiring. How do I post a job?

Posting is free and takes about 2 minutes. You'll fill in your pay plan and how many Saturdays the job works. If you want your job pinned at the top, a featured spot is $300 a month, and there are only 3 in each area. Post a job.
